CONTENTS
THE CASA
The Montessori Casa is designated for children from 2-1/2 years to 6 years old. It is a 3-year program involving the use of many learning materials which enable the child to work by himself or in a small group. The pace is unhurried. Children may work, uninterrupted for long periods, but when a child is ready for something else, an observing teacher is always there to give individual attention. The Casa program aims to help the child acquire the habit of learning, thus enabling him to achieve self-discipline and a feeling of responsibility for his own education. It gives each child the opportunity to develop in the best possible way for himself by utilizing his senses to the fullest and beginning the task of abstraction.
The activities in the Casa involve Practical Life exercises which help the child coordinate and refine his movements, develop concentration, foster a sense of order and acquire a feeling of control over body and environment. These activities of the child, focusing on the care of his person and his environment, include pouring, tying, washing, preparing and setting a table, dressing up, etc.
The Casa also has sensorial materials and execises which develop an understanding of the many aspect of size, shape, weight, color, sound and like a the child works with such intriguing apparata as geometric solids, color tablets, sound boxes, etc. Academic materials like sand paper letters, the moveable alpahabet, number rods, and bead frames help foster a concrete understanding of various language and mathematics concepts while colorful maps and other materials invite exploration of world culture. The use of the different materials as well as activities in music and art helps integrate reading, writing, and culture for the child, forming a basis for continued learning.

THE GRADE SCHOOL
The Grade School is for children ages 6-12 years old. This is the age when they want to explore the universe through their imagination. Thus, the children work with impressionistic charts, timelines, classified nomenclature, real specimens of plants, animals and minerals, and manipulative materials such as bead bars, puzzled maps, etc. Activities involve researches and field trips outside the classroom.
The Elementary curriculum is an integration of the basic subjects of Languages, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, History and Geography presented in a sequence that move from the whole to its parts, from overview to details. History includes the formation of the universe, the evolution of life, the development of early man and the growth of major civilizations. Geography, Zoology, Botany and the physical sciences are woven into the study of history. Other subjects are Balarila at Panitikan, Heograpiya, Kasaysayan, at Sibika which are all given in Filipino. Aside from the academic areas, the program includes art, music, physical education, scouting, practical arts, computer education and religion or moral values education.
The Grade School program is divided into two cycles. The first cycle is for ages 6-9 and the second for ages 9-12.In the first cycle, the children are helped to develop a free and inquiring minds in all areas of interest. Presentations are usually given in small groups or at times individually, as in the Casa. Children then work alone, with a teacher or with their peers. The activities for the week are planned by the children with their teachers. In the second cycle, the program becomes more structured so that on their last year, there is a clear approximation to the requirements of high school work. Together with the strengthening of intellectual skill are many varied homeroom experiences that will help the children become more aware of their personal responsibility.

HIGH SCHOOL
The third department of Maria Montessori Foundation is the high school for students from 12 to 17 years old. MMF offers a college preparatory curriculum geared toward academic excellence. It has two cycles, the junior high school for ages 12-15 (grade 7 to second year) and senior high school for ages 15-17 (third year to fourth year). The high school program aims to answer the goals of the institution on the seven aspects : cultural; physical, social, moral, intellectual, psychological, and spiritual.
The academic requirements of the Department of Education are fulfilled in the different curricular areas: Communication Arts in English and Filipino, Science, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Practical Arts, Music, Physical Education, Scouting and Health Education, etc. The organization of the study areas is built on a four-year ladder with single subject areas each year. The regular school year is divided into quarters. Each quarter ends with a periodical test covering content, abilities, and skills covered in the period. A unique aspect of the high school is the extension program. This is provided as a support structure to the system. It aims to enable the students to meet the requirements of particular area of study. There are also co-curricular activities like field trips and apprenticeships, and extra-curricular activities like clubs and Social Outreach Programs, all aimed for the total development of the adolescent. The high school graduate is expected to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to cope realistically with the requirements of higher schooling. In his years in high school, he must have tapped his creativity and powers to the fullest.
